Drawing tools

A TradingView-style drawing suite, favorites, the position tool and touch drawing.

The trade chart carries a complete TradingView-style drawing suite. Everything you draw is saved per trade and synced to your account, so your markup is still there next month.

Favorites bar

Hover a tool in any group's flyout and click its star (always visible on touch screens) to add it to your favorites. Favorites gather in a small floating bar over the chart that you drag anywhere by its grip; its place is remembered per screen size. The star button of the toolbar shows or hides the bar.

Precision and control

  • Magnet. Snap drawing points to candle OHLC values, with Weak and Strong modes (or off). Hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl to let go of the magnet while you place a point, as in TradingView.
  • Straight lines. Hold Shift while drawing a trend line, ray, info line, extended line, arrow or path to lock it to 45° steps (also when dragging one of its ends). Shift on a rectangle draws a square.
  • Undo / redo. ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z (or ⌘Y; Ctrl on Windows), plus toolbar buttons.
  • Delete. Delete or Backspace removes the selected drawing; the eraser removes any drawing you click. Esc drops the armed tool, or deselects.
  • Lock all / hide all. Freeze every drawing against accidental drags, or hide the whole markup layer for a clean read, one click each.
  • Remove all clears the current chart's drawings. A trade holds up to 300 drawings.

Editing a drawing

Select a drawing and a small bar floats above it: color (target and stop zones on a position, border and background on a rectangle), line width and style, font size, background, extend left or right, a gear for the tool's own settings (Fibonacci levels, up to 24 custom ones), lock, clone and delete. Double-click a text tool to edit it, or a rectangle to write a note in its centre. The brush and highlighter stay armed between strokes; Enter finishes a path.

The position tool

The Long and Short Position tools show entry, stop, target and the resulting risk-reward as you drag. A trade has one position tool: drawing a second selects the one already there. And it is tied to the trade: drawing or moving it fills the trade's entry, take profit and stop loss in its Levels card (see Levels & positions). Its gear holds position sizing (account, risk in % or $, leverage) and what to display (labels, prices and offsets, the risk/reward ratio, quantity and risk, PnL and balance).

Drawing on a phone

  • Tap to select first. A drawing only moves once it is selected, so a swipe that starts on a drawing still scrolls the chart.
  • A remote reticle. Pick a tool and a blue reticle appears in the middle of the chart. Drag anywhere with one finger to move it (it never hides under your finger), then tap to drop the point.
  • Bigger handles make the points easy to grab.

Draw the lesson, not just the trade

The drawing layer is per trade. Mark the level you should have waited for, or circle the candle that told you to exit; when the prev / next slider brings you back someday, the lesson is right there on the chart.
