News

How your entries fare around economic releases: near news vs clear, news vs quiet days.

Do you trade better into economic releases or away from them? The News section, last on the Analytics page, measures how your entries fare around CPI, NFP, rate decisions and every other scheduled release.

Choosing what counts as news

A small bar at the top of the section decides which releases count:

ControlWhat it does
FlagsOne round flag per country: United States, Euro Area, United Kingdom, Japan, China, Germany, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand, France, Italy and Spain. Lit flags count, greyed ones don't. Hover a flag for its name.
High / Medium / LowThe impact folders, the same red, orange and yellow as on the chart. Count only high-impact releases, or add the medium and low ones.
WindowHow close to a release an entry must be to count as near news: ±15′, ±30′ (default), ±45′ or ±60′.

Flags and folders are shared with the News events indicator on your trade charts, and saved with your account: change them here and the chart follows, on every device. The section works on the trades your filter bar keeps, like the rest of the report. The economic calendar starts in January 2020; older trades have no news to compare with.

The three cards

Entries vs News

Every trade is placed by the release nearest its entry: Before a news (entered up to the window before it), After a news (up to the window after it, an entry right at the release counts as after) or Clear (no release within the window). Two bar charts give each group's win rate and average result.

Expectancy: Near News vs Clear

Two tiles side by side: trades entered within the window of a release against all the others, each with its expectancy per trade, win rate and trade count. A verdict line reads the gap for you, for example "Clear of these releases you make 0.21R more per trade: staying out ±30 min around them pays." With fewer than 30 trades near news, it reminds you to treat it as a hint, not a rule.

News Days vs Quiet Days

Days with at least one of the chosen releases against days without, each with its win rate, average result and trade count. A news day is read on the trade's own calendar day, in its own timezone.

Good to know

  • Entry time only. Near news means a release fell within the window around the entry, boundaries included. The exit does not matter.
  • Timezone-proof. Releases and entries are compared as exact moments, so it holds whatever timezone your trades were logged in.
  • Clickable. Click a bar or a tile to pin its figures and list its trades (see Clicking charts).
  • On every trade page too. The same section sits at the bottom of each trade's page, with this trade's group highlighted and a list of the releases around it (see Notes & market context).

The news rule, tested

Many traders follow a "no trades 30 minutes around red news" rule without ever checking it. Set the flags of the currencies you trade, keep only High, and compare the two expectancy tiles at ±15′, ±30′ and ±60′. Your data tells you whether the rule pays, and how wide it should be.
