Chart indicators

The Indicators menu: sessions, killzones, FVGs, regime, news, EMAs, RSI and volume.

The trade chart ships with a full indicator stack: session windows, ICT-style killzones, fair value gaps across five timeframes, a market regime filter, economic news, EMAs, RSI and volume. Each one is a switch away, and deeply configurable.

The Indicators menu

Every indicator lives in the Indicators menu, the sliders icon at the right of the chart toolbar, on trade pages and in chart dialogs alike: EMA 200, EMA 50, RSI, FVG, Regime, News, Killzones, Session and Volume. The ones with a gear open their settings. Switches stay as you left them from one trade to the next. Sessions are set per chart timeframe; every other indicator is one switch for all timeframes.

Sessions

Shades the trading window you define on the chart, in the timezone you pick (Paris by default). Each chart timeframe has its own window and on/off state: by default 09:00 to 16:00 from 1m to 15m, 09:00 to 19:00 on 30m, off on 1h. A timeframe you never set borrows the window of the one below it. The band never draws above 1h: the switch is greyed out on 4h and 1D.

Killzones

The classic intraday liquidity windows, drawn as colored boxes with their labels, in Paris time. Off until you turn them on; the settings dialog is ICT Killzones & Pivots.

KillzoneDefault window (Paris)Default state
Asia02:00 – 06:00On, blue
London08:00 – 11:00On, red
NY13:00 – 16:00On, green
NY Lunch18:00 – 19:00Off
NY PM19:30 – 22:00Off
  • Editable windows. Each killzone has its own on/off box, start and end times and color. Boxes and Text (the labels) can each be switched off, and the box transparency is adjustable.
  • Session pivots. Show pivots draws each killzone's high and low as lines; Stop at mitigation ends a line when price takes it out. Both on by default.
  • Previous High / Low. The previous day's (PDH / PDL, on by default), week's and month's highs and lows as lines, each with its own color.
  • Limits. Sessions shown (1 to 20, default 3) keeps the chart readable; Hidden above (default 30m) keeps killzones off higher timeframes, an intraday tool staying intraday.

Fair Value Gaps (FVG)

Draws FVGs and inverse FVGs (iFVGs) as boxes, and not just for the chart's own timeframe: five slots let you overlay higher-timeframe gaps on a lower timeframe chart.

  • Slot 1 follows the chart timeframe; slots 2 to 5 default to 15m, 1h, 4h and Daily, each with its own label text and on/off switch.
  • Fill behavior. Choose what counts as filled (wick or body based), whether gaps wait for a candle close to confirm, and whether filled gaps are deleted or kept.
  • Noise control. Hide gaps from timeframes lower than the chart, cap how far back gaps are scanned, and tune label distance.
  • Colors are configurable per direction (bullish / bearish) for both FVGs and iFVGs, along with the border style, width and transparency. FVGs and iFVGs can each be shown or hidden.

The FVG / iFVG settings, one by one

SettingDefaultWhat it does
Timeframes (5 slots)Chart on; 15m, 1h, 4h, D offEach slot has an on/off box and a timeframe. Slot 1 follows the chart; the others overlay a higher timeframe's gaps.
Wait for candle close to identify FVGsOffOnly draws a gap once the candle that forms it has closed.
Hide FVGs lower than enabled timeframesOnKeeps gaps from timeframes below the chart's off the chart.
Hide FVGs on the chart timeframeOffShows only the higher-timeframe slots.
Show FVG / Show iFVGOn / OffRegular gaps, and inverse gaps (a gap price closed through, which flips its role).
Filled typeH/LWhat counts as filled: a wick reaching the far side (H/L), or a close beyond it (C).
Max bars back300How far back gaps are scanned.
Show labels / Label distanceOn / 10The text next to each box, and how far from it (with Extend boxes).

Delete boxes after fillOnRemoves a gap once filled, or keeps it on the chart.
Extend boxes / Length of boxesOff / 20Extends boxes to the right edge, or draws them a fixed number of bars long.

Regime filter

Colours the background behind each candle by the market's regime: green for a bull trend, red for a bear trend, grey for chop. One look tells you whether a trade was taken with the trend, against it, or in a range. Off by default.

Behind the colour, each candle gets a score built from trend strength (ADX), direction against a long EMA (200), a crash detector (rate of change), volatility (Bollinger band width) and market structure (zig zag). The settings dialog groups them as Background, Trend strength, Direction & crash, Volatility, Decision and Structure. The Decision settings matter most: score smoothing, the decision margin (−1 by default) and a minimum regime duration (5 bars, on by default) so the background doesn't flicker. Reset to default settings puts everything back.

The Regime filter settings, one by one

SettingDefaultWhat it does
Transparency85How faint the background columns are.
Bull / Bear / Chop colorsGreen / orange-red / greyThe colour of each regime.
ADX length / DI length14 / 23The lengths of the trend-strength (ADX) and direction (DI) lines.
ADX trend threshold17Above it, the candle is scored for a bull or bear trend; at or below it, for chop.
ADX chop threshold30Under the trend threshold, an ADX also under this level scores chop more strongly.
Long EMA length200The long average that sets the trend's direction.
ROC length / Crash threshold15 / −9%A fall faster than the threshold over that many bars reads as a crash (bear).
Band length / Standard deviation20 / 2The Bollinger bands used to measure volatility.
Low volatility threshold0.02Band width under which the market counts as quiet (chop).
Score smoothing period3Averages the regime score over that many bars.
Decision margin−1The lead a regime's score needs over the other two to be called. At −1, a near tie is enough; raise it for fewer, surer switches.
Use duration filter / Minimum regime durationOn / 5A new regime must last that many bars to be shown, so the background doesn't flicker.
Use zig zag structure / Zig zag deviationOn / 2%Adds market structure to the trend score: higher highs and higher lows back a bull trend, lower lows and lower highs a bear one.
Structure lookback5Bars on each side that confirm a swing high or low.

Volume

A volume histogram along the bottom of the price pane, in quiet greys that match the candles. Off by default. On instruments without volume data, the switch is greyed out.

News events

Economic calendar releases (CPI, NFP, rate decisions, central bank speeches…) drawn as dashed vertical lines in their folder's colour at their exact release time, so you see at a glance whether a trade was taken into a news spike.

FolderImpact
RedHigh: on by default
OrangeMedium: on by default
YellowLow: off by default
  • Turn it on from the News button in the Indicators menu (the red dot fills when it is on). Unlike the other indicators, it is one switch for every timeframe.
  • Pick your folders. Only red, or red + orange, or all three: the gear next to the News button opens the News events settings.
  • Pick your countries. United States by default; add the Euro Area, the UK, Japan, China, Germany, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand, France, Italy or Spain (All / None links included). Reset to default settings puts folders and countries back as they were.
  • Click the flag at the foot of a line (one round flag per country, ringed in the colour of its biggest release) to open the event's card: country, date and time, then each release with its impact and its Actual / Forecast / Previous figures. Escape or a click elsewhere closes it. Releases at the same moment share one line.
  • Always current. The calendar goes back to January 2020 and updates about a minute after each release, so actuals and rescheduled events land on their own.
  • Shared settings. Folders and countries are the same as in the News sections of Analytics and the trade page, and they are saved with your account.
  • Ask the AI. It reads the same calendar: "my trades entered less than 45 min after a red folder", "how do I do on NFP days". Matching is done on exact moments, so it holds whatever time zone the trades were logged in.

EMAs and RSI

  • EMA 50 and EMA 200 overlay the price pane. Shown alone, an EMA stays a neutral gray; shown together they take opposite hues (blue 50, amber 200) so crosses read instantly.
  • RSI (14) opens in its own pane below the chart, using Wilder's smoothing.

Settings persist and sync

Every indicator's configuration is saved and synced to your account. Set up your killzones once; every trade you ever review wears them, and so do Talios' Data feed and its killzone() function.
