Spectra
News events & Radio
Reading news markers, the 24h news log, and having headlines read aloud.
News is the point of Spectra. Here is how the markers work, how the log works, and how to let Spectra read the tape to you out loud.
Event markers
- Placement. Each headline becomes a red line pinned at the exact second it was published and the price trading at that instant. Headlines newer than the last 1-minute bar clamp onto the live tip, so breaking news appears within about a second of landing, not at the next bar.
- Click to read. Clicking a marker highlights it and shows the full headline. Clicking again (or picking another) dismisses it.
- Window-scoped. Only news inside the visible price window renders, so the chart never wears stale markers.
The news log
- 1
Open it from the counter
The newspaper button in the control strip shows the current headline count and toggles a floating panel over the chart. - 2
Last 24 hours, newest first
Every headline with its timestamp (in your timezone). The list keeps streaming in while open. - 3
Click a row to locate it
Selecting a headline in the log highlights its marker on the curve, connecting the words to the candle they moved.
Radio mode
The Radio toggle (top right of the chart) turns Spectra into an audio squawk: every freshly arrived headline is read aloud in a natural female US voice, one at a time, never overlapping. The first time you turn it on, the voice takes a moment to get ready (your system voice reads in the meantime), and nothing about your listening leaves your machine. Off by default; one click either way.
The chart-watcher's setup
Keep Spectra on a second monitor with Radio on. Your eyes stay on your execution platform; the moment something drops, you hear it, and one glance at Spectra shows you what it did to price.
