From zero to your first report

3 ways

Rafale import, any file, or by hand

0 setup

Charts and metrics compute automatically

Route 1: backtest with Rafale (recommended)

  1. 1

    Install Rafale

Open the Rafale page in the app and click Add to Chrome. You need desktop Chrome and a TradingView Essential plan or higher.
  2. 2

    Run a session in TradingView

Rafale jumps you between the setups your TradingView strategy flags. Click YES or NO on each; the result reveals only after you decide. Details in the Rafale section of these docs.
  3. 3

    Export and import

One click in Rafale downloads the session as XLSX. In the journal, press i (or click Import) and drop the file in. Done.

Route 2: import a file you already have

The importer accepts .xlsx, .csv and .xls. If your file follows the Afterburner template (downloadable from the Settings dialog), it parses instantly. If it is a foreign export from a broker or another journal, the AI import reads your columns, asks you to confirm a quick mapping, and adapts the file for you. See Importing trades and AI import.

Route 3: log a trade by hand

Press n on the dashboard to open the New Trade form: pair, direction, result in R, entry and exit time, timeframe, folder, tags, status and notes. Perfect for journaling live trading as it happens. You can also just tell the AI analyst, or log from Claude or ChatGPT on your phone. See Logging trades manually.

Then: read your report

  1. 1

    Open Analytics

Press g then a, or use the navbar. Every chart is already computed: KPIs on top, then Core, Performance Over Time, By Instrument, By Timeframe, Execution & Psychology, Quant Analytics and News sections.
  2. 2

Filter to the question you have

The filter bar scopes everything at once. Want London longs on EURUSD only? Three clicks, and every KPI, chart and insight recomputes live.
  3. 3

    Click into the charts

A bar looks bad? Click it to list the trades behind it, then open any of them on its chart. See Clicking charts.
  4. 4

    Review individual trades

Click any row in the journal to reopen the trade on its real chart, with entry and exit marked, indicators, and a full drawing suite.
  5. 5

    Ask the AI

Connect a model once, then ask "where does my edge come from?" from the star button. See the AI analyst section.

First import bonus

On your very first import, Afterburner asks for your account size so dollar PnL and R-multiples convert cleanly (1R = 1% of the account). You can change it later in Settings; every metric rescales instantly.
