Conversations & notifications
Edit, regenerate, stop, live sync across devices, notifications and retention.
Conversations live on your account, keep running when you leave, follow you from your computer to your phone, and can ping you when an answer is ready.
Working with an answer
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Stop | The square button that replaces Send while an answer is written. It stops at once; what was written so far stays. |
| Copy | Under each answer: copies its text. |
| Regenerate | Under each answer: writes it again, replacing it and everything after it. |
| Edit a question | Edit, under your message (on hover, always visible on touch screens), reopens it in place. Send drops everything after it and answers again; Esc cancels. |
| Retry | Shown with an error: sends the same question again. |
| Scroll to latest | A round button appears when you scroll up. While an answer is being written below, it breathes three dots; click it to follow the answer again. |
When the assistant asks you
If your question can be read several ways, the assistant asks back with a card: up to four questions, each with numbered options and an Other field to type your own answer. With one question, a click answers it; with several, pick each then Send answers.
On every device, live
- Synced. Your conversations are stored on your account; History lists your 60 most recent.
- Live everywhere. Ask on your computer with the panel open on your phone: the phone opens the same chat and the answer streams in on both.
- Keeps going. Close the app mid-answer, lock your phone or switch chats: the answer is still written, and reopening the chat picks it up wherever it is.
Notifications
Turn on AI notifications in the account menu (per device). You then get a notification when an answer is ready, when changes wait for your confirmation, or when the assistant asks you a question, as long as you are looking elsewhere: another tab, another app, or the panel closed. With the app closed, it still arrives as a push notification. Tapping it opens the panel on that conversation.
- No notification while Afterburner is open in front on one of your devices, or after you pressed Stop.
- One notification per conversation: a newer one replaces it.
- On iPhone, add Afterburner to your Home Screen first; if the row says BLOCKED, allow notifications for Afterburner in your browser settings.
