Projects & settings
Creating a project, pairs, timeframe, period, account, the switcher and limits.
A project is one strategy: its files, its backtest settings and its last run. You can keep up to 20, and switch between them in one click.
Creating a project
- 1
Name your strategy
Up to 60 characters, e.g. "Previous day breakout". You can rename it later. - 2
Backtest settings
What the strategy runs on (below). Everything can be changed later in the Backtest panel. Click Create project.
A new project starts empty: create a strategy.py file and write your class, or click Ask the agent and describe your idea.
Backtest settings
| Setting | How it works |
|---|---|
| Pairs | Up to 12 markets per run: forex, metals (XAU/USD), indices (US100, GER40…) and energies. Crypto isn't covered. Add with + Add, remove with the ×; a backtest needs at least one pair. Each pair runs on its own and the trades are merged by time. |
| Timeframe | 1m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 15m, 30m, 1H, 4H or 1D. Underneath, an estimate of the bars per pair. A very large first load is flagged; candles are then kept on your device so the next runs start fast. |
| Period | From and To dates. The end can't be in the future, and the start must come before it. |
| Timezone | Picked once, when you create the project: your device's zone by default (marked Your timezone), any other from the list. It can't be changed afterwards and shows next to Backtest in the panel, e.g. (UTC+2 · Europe/Paris). The agent talks to you in it and codes the hours you give it on it, summer and winter time included: 9:00 stays 9:00 all year. The candles stay in UTC. |
| Account | Account size ($100 to $100,000,000) and risk per trade (0.01% to 10%). They turn R into dollars in Results: at $100,000 and 1%, 1R is $1,000. |
Defaults for a new project: 1H, the last three years, your device's timezone, $100,000 at 1% risk. No pair is picked for you: Create project waits until you add at least one. A run is capped at about 600,000 bars per pair and 1,500,000 in total; past that, Talios asks for a shorter period, fewer pairs or a higher timeframe.
The project switcher
The pill on the left of the toolbar shows the current project and its timeframe ("Gold pullback · 1H"). Click it for the list of your projects, last edited first, each with its last result (+12.4R, Failed or No run). Each project can be renamed, duplicated (handy to try a variant without losing the original) or deleted with its files and its last run. + New project sits right next to it.
What is saved
- Everything, automatically. Files, settings, open tabs, the view you were on, where you were in each file, the panels' sizes: all saved to your account as you type (Ctrl + S saves at once). The toolbar shows Saved or Saving….
- The last run of each project is kept on your account too, so Results, the Data feed and Prop firm are there when you come back, on any device.
