Levels & positions

Entry, take profit and stop loss picked on the chart, the position tool and MAE.

Your entry, take profit and stop loss prices turn a result into a trade you can study: they feed the journal columns, the AI analyst, the MAE and the Simulator. Set them in two clicks on the chart, or let the position tool fill them for you.

The Levels card

On the trade page, the Levels card lists Entry, Take profit and Stop loss, each with a pencil.

  1. 1

    Click a pencil

A horizontal line follows your pointer over the chart: white (or black) for the entry, green for the take profit, red for the stop loss. The magnet applies; hold ⌘ / Ctrl to place it freely.
  2. 2

    Click the price

The level is set, and nothing stays drawn on the chart. On a phone, lift your finger where you want it.
  3. 3

    Or click Edit all

The three in a row: entry first, then the take profit and the stop loss, which start from the entry and fill green and red zones like the position tool.

Esc, or a click outside the chart, cancels.

Filled by the position tool

Draw a Long or Short Position on the chart, on the trade page or in the chart dialog, and the trade's levels fill themselves from it. Move or reshape it and they follow. When a trade already has levels and a position tool, Position Tool Autofill (Autofill on phones) appears in the Levels card to copy the tool's levels back in one click.

Where your levels go

WhereWhat they do
Journal tableThe Entry price, Take profit and Stop loss columns (off by default, in the columns button).
MAEWith an entry, a stop, an exit time and a timeframe, the Performance card shows the trade's MAE (below).
SimulatorTrades with levels are checked at their worst point against the prop firm rules. See Accounts monitoring & money.
AI analystIt reads your levels to judge your stops and targets against what price actually did.

MAE: how far it went against you

The MAE row of the Performance card (maximum adverse excursion) shows, in R, the furthest the trade went against you before it closed, e.g. −0.62R. It is measured on real price history from the candle after your entry to your exit (the entry candle is left out, its wick sitting where you placed the stop), capped at −1R and never better than the trade's own result.

It needs the entry and stop prices, an exit time, a timeframe, and a forex, metal or index pair (crypto is not covered), on a taken trade. It is measured a second or so after you set the levels (by drawing the position or on the Levels card), then saved with the trade on your account, so every device, the Simulator and the AI analyst read it at once; moving the entry, the stop or the times measures it again. Without what it needs the row shows a dash, and its tooltip says what is missing.

Read your MAE

Winners that routinely sit near −0.9R before working are one spread away from being losers. Losers that never went past −0.2R before you closed them may be exits taken out of fear. Ask the AI analyst: "show my MAE on winners versus losers".
